Creativity is the ability of a person to responde to visual and other stimuli in an original way, and then to share this response with passion, individuality and spirit.
Kimberly's studio is located in Scottsdale Arizona. She is a contemporary artist whose passion for art and life are vividly seen in her colorful images. When creating mixed media work she paints with a variety of materials and mediums; alkyd oils, pastels, metallic powders, organic fibers and gilding with copper, gold and silver metal leaf. Her emphasis with each design is to use color, pattern, and texture as a means for creating a cohesive statement of mood and style. When creating plein air landscape paintings she uses alkyd oil or soft pastels. These mediums enable her to paint quickly, which is critical in capturing the fleeting moods of nature. She also enjoys the flexibity of these paints for they allow for rendering fine detail, thin washes of color or thick impasto layers.
"I am motivated to produce paintings which engage the viewer in the creative process as they experience the work. To draw them into a dance of visual stimulation which reveals the excitement of life. My hope is that the viewer will experience the type of inspiration, peace and hope I felt while creating the art." Says the artist.
Kimberly is a graduate of the Camden County Vocational and Technical School majoring in Graphic Arts and of a subsequent apprenticeship program. Although her studies were primarily in the technical aspects of the printing industry she had a strong interest in visual art. Following her education she had twenty years work experience in business management in the fine art and picture framing industries. She determined to develop an artistic vision and the necessary skills for creating fine art. Although she has no formal education in art or design, the foundation for her guided growth as an artist has been fostered by friendships developed through artist groups. She also studies many books and has participated in workshops with well known artists such as Bob Rohm, Ken Beckhaus, and Carol Bomer.
She established her art career through gallery representation, juried art shows and sales to art dealers and interior designers. The quality of her work was recognized and awarded honors in numerous juried art shows along with steady sales in the retail market. Her work is now in art collections throughout the U.S. as well as London, Poland and Germany. Her work is in the BMW Corporate collection of fine art at their Arts Center in South Carolina. Her paintings were selected from three hundred artists work as a representative for the Spartanburgh Museum of fine Art in South Carolina.
